This is the gelling agent in the recipe that gives the Shower Jelly its jellyish consistency. Gelatin's used in most edible jellies, but gelatin-based jellies melt pretty close to body temperature (like in your mouth). Carrageenan-based jellies melt at 45-70 ยฐC (113-158 ยฐF), which means they'll stay intact for longer in the shower.
